This software came about as a late night challenge. I was on site in Morocco with a gentleman from France who worked for a software escrow company. I was the one providing the files to be put into escrow. He verifies his escrow candidates by generating MD5 hashes.
While his software was running to build an MD5 hash of a multi-gigabyte zip file on a USB thumb drive, I wrote and tested a quick application to do the same test using .NET and C#. He told me about some of the shortcomings and desired features of his current tool set, so voila! New tool.
To show how it can work, my installer .exe for version 220.127.116.11 has an MD5 hash of:
If you already had an earlier version installed, you could check the hash to make sure your value matched my published value. That guarantees that what I tested and what you are installing are the same.
This is a fresh newly released product. It has been through a few rounds of private beta testing to work out some kinks so you can put it right to use without worries.
MultiHash requires .NET 4.5 to be installed, but the installation process will take care of installing it if you need it.
Let me know if you have any ideas for me on what to add in. One possibility is the idea of adding additional hash types.
